Kedarnath Helicopter Shuttle

Kedarnath shuttle helicopters operate from sectors such as Guptkashi, Phata and Sirsi, subject to the applicable season, operator schedule, weather and official controls. BKTC states that Kedarnath shuttle tickets are booked through IRCTC HeliYatra only. LN Tourism can assist travellers with the booking workflow and coordination, but cannot guarantee inventory or flight operation.

Health & Senior-Citizen Preparation

Both dhams are above 3,000 metres and Kedarnath also involves a substantial walking sector unless an assisted option is used. Uttarakhand’s Health Department maintains a dedicated 2026 Char Dham Health Advisory and Handbook. Senior travellers and anyone with heart, blood-pressure, respiratory, diabetes or other relevant medical concerns should review the official guidance and discuss fitness with their clinician before travelling.

MORE THAN A SHORTER CHAR DHAM

From Kedarnath’s Jyotirlinga to Badrinath’s Vishnu shrine.

Kedarnath stands high in the Rudraprayag district, surrounded by the Garhwal Himalayas and dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is recognised as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and forms part of the Panch Kedar tradition. Reaching it involves the most physically demanding movement of this two-dham journey: road travel into the Mandakini valley followed by the final Kedarnath access sector.

Badrinath shifts the journey into the upper Alaknanda valley. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the shrine lies between the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges at about 3,133 metres. Tapt Kund, Brahma Kapal and nearby Mana extend the pilgrimage beyond the temple itself.

The connection between the two dhams is as much geographical as spiritual. The traveller moves from a high-altitude walking pilgrimage associated with Shiva into a long Himalayan road journey toward Vishnu. That difference in physical character is why Do Dham works best when its itinerary is built around recovery, altitude and daylight movement, rather than simply counting temple visits.

DO NOT COMPRESS THE KEDARNATH RECOVERY

The shortest route is not always the easiest journey.

Day 01Gateway → Kedar Base

Enter the mountains without beginning exhausted.

Pickup from Dehradun Airport, Dehradun railway station, Haridwar, Rishikesh or another confirmed point and travel toward the Guptkashi/Phata/Sitapur sector.

Protect:

Avoid scheduling a late-night arrival followed immediately by an early high-altitude trek.

Days 02–03High Sector

Kedarnath ascent, darshan and recovery

Travel to the local Kedarnath access sector and continue by the pre-planned method: trekking, authorised pony/palki arrangement or official helicopter shuttle where confirmed. Depending on the access choice and traveller profile, stay near Kedarnath or return/descent according to the practical schedule.

Protect:

Do not force a same-day trek plan on elderly or slower travellers merely because faster members of the group can manage it.

Days 06–07Return / Extension

Return slowly—or add one meaningful mountain extension

Return through Joshimath, Karnaprayag, Rudraprayag and Devprayag toward Rishikesh/Haridwar, or add Auli/Chopta only when the trip was designed with that extra time from the start.

Protect:

Do not turn a pilgrimage extension into another endurance test.
